1. Write arguments to support claims in an analysis of substantive topics or

texts, using valid reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence.

f. Use specific rhetorical devices to support assertions (e.g., appeal to logic

through reasoning; appeal to emotion or ethical belief; relate a personal

anecdote, case study, or analogy). CA

On the essay "On Dumpster Diving" it talks about how a man lived his life going around places living on the things he found in the dumpsters. In this essay we answered questions that contained rhetoric and style. In the essay he explains to us the effects and the good things about dumpster diving.  In paragraph 7 in the essay Eighner, the dumpster man identifies the rhetorical direction  he plans to follow and, which he defines himself as a scavenger, and does not really give out a good explanation.
Eighner effect on such information is that he doesn't really explain to the audience about what directions he plans to follow. Eigners argumentative position on this essay is that he talks about how people throw away all kinds of food without it going to waste. He starts talking about the places he most likes going. One of the places is he likes to go dumpster diving threw college students garbage because they throw away things that are still worthy to use. Magazines, clothes and ect...
The style of this essay is Argumentative Style because the writer is focusing on the writing style to tell the readers about specific subject or topic, and at the end of the essay the author leaves his own opinion about the topic.
