Global Warming
Many scientists, and researchers are concern about the changes of climate on earth. The earth is changing dramatically due to global climate, which is referred to as “Global Warming. Global warming can result of humans contribution and also natural events. Global warming affects the earth by the rising temperatures due to the greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases is carbon dioxide caused by human activity. Human contribution to global warming is leading to human health problems, drastic climate change and future problems.
One of the greatest purposes of global warming is human contribution to burning fossil fuel such as coal, oil, and gas. Burning coal contributes to global warming because it creates smog, acid rain and toxic air pollution. Toxic air pollution is known to be the cause of why there are so many diseases and viruses. Because of global warming, acid rain is one of the causes of environmental harm in forest and lakes. Deforestation that humans are contributing by are cutting and burning trees that add up to even greater risk to global warming, and pollution. The usage of cars by humans in the world is one of the major global warming effects, because they are used daily in life. Humans using cars send out emissions into the atmosphere creating air pollution, making global warming even worse than it already is. Human activity has caused at least half of climate change in the last half century, by driving cars, running power plants on coal and oil, torching swathes of forestland and debris; anything involving burning carbon-gas fuels and emitting greenhouse gases (Miller).
Global warming is affecting the health of millions of people in the world. Global warming contributes to millions of human illnesses every year. Global warming negatively affects humans health by the spread of diseases such as, malaria, heat stress, and malnutrition. These disease are spread because of the warm temperatures from pollution of the burning coal, oil and such. Extreme high air temperatures are known to cause about 150,000 deaths each year around the world and are continuing to increase more and more. There are more likely deaths of children in the world because they are more exposed to such warm weathers with bad quality air giving them heat strokes. Children around the world living in poor conditions are the most vulnerable to the result of health issues. Higher temperatures over the coming decades are expected to cause more smoggy days.
Global warming is also affecting the environment such as plants, forest, and animals. The effect on plants is caused by rising land and water temperature. Not only surface plants are affected but underwater plants as well. Higher temperatures and other climate changes decrease the amount of rain and water plants receive, as well as elevating sea temperatures (Patsalides). The result of global warming, there has been higher risks of forest wildfires, affecting major areas of the world. Plants dieing because of heat waves, also affecting the food supply for humans and animals. High temperatures can cause the food supply for both animals and humans to decline and this starts to threaten the lives of those animals and plants.
The most important thing that scientist and researchers are worried about is the Arctic Ocean. The arctic ocean temperatures has been rising twice as fast and causes it to melt creating thin layers of ice. Glaciers melting creates high sea levels, which threatens places like beaches to over flood, and sea temperatures to get colder. Scientists fear that the arctic will reach its point where it all melts throughout the years do to the release of to much carbon dioxide in the air. Sea ice is something very important in the arctic. Sea ice is a 1-6 feet of thick ice that is mostly covered throughout the whole arctic making it super cold. But the sea ice has been declining throughout the years making the arctic not as cold as it used to be. Specialists are now constantly keeping there eyes open, watching to see if any more changes in the arctic are more to come and how to prevent them.
As the earth gets warmer, animals that live in the cold might not have a suitable place to live any more. Polar bears, walruses, whales, and seals are struggling to survive in the arctic, because of global warming. Polar bears are used to extreme cold weather in the arctic hunting for prey, and having a source of shelter, and playing their role in the ecosystem. Now that global warming if affecting the arctic many of the animals such as the polar bears are struggling to stay alive. Their population is suddenly decreasing, their having less and less hunting opportunities and there having to change and adapt to new ways of living with warmer weather due to global warming. Polar bears also depend on sea ice. They use it as a platform to stay float to catch prey. As the sea ice is melting its creating thin layers of ice making it harder for polar bears to stand and difficult for them to swim. Polar bears have died by drowning by not having a platform to stand because of the sea ice melting. Along with other arctic animals whales, seals, and walruses they also are suffering from global warming affects. Gray whales are starting to migrate to other places they're not used to including migrating to warmer waters. Arctic dwellers such as the gray whale, ice seals, walruses, and polar bears are making their way to unknown warming world, living in new habitat, new food supply shifting to accommodate their new living (Kay).
Global warming has a lot to do with climate change. Climate change is weather patterns caused by global warming. Many agree that climate change may be one of the greatest threats facing the world, and recent years show increasing temperatures in regions or extremities in weather patterns (Shah). With climate change, the world has gone through many disastrous case scenarios. Winter storms, droughts, floods, hurricanes, storms, and extreme heat weather are all because of climate change. Climate change seems to be irreversible at the moment, because many researchers are trying their best to figure out what can they change in the future before its too late. Extreme heat weather conditions is the most affecting weather causing fatal deaths every year and affecting health.
Is there a solution to global warming? Yes there is. There are a lot of ways to prevent global warming from continuing. Using cars less and bikes more can reduce the amount in emissions going into the atmosphere. Also by saving lots of energy and by buying efficient energy appliances you can save money and help fight global warming. Solar panels are also another way to save energy in homes. Saving water by turning off faucets is a solution to global warming because it keeps it from wasting. Also by spreading the word around by trying to make a difference in stopping global warming is also a solution to global warming. Recycling is something that helps stop global warming by decreasing landfills, and stops gases to release into the air preventing air pollution.
Global warming is affecting the world all around. From top to bottom humans are still going to be contributing to global warming even though most of them don’t notice. Although there are many people already trying to make a difference its going to take years maybe decades to see a huge difference in the world. Humans are still going to face to health problems due to polluted air and extreme climate changes which they would have to get used to. Wildlife are coping with the different weather conditions and doing their best to survive. With solutions out there in the world humans are trying their best to improve a better life for humanity and the entire world.
