Death with dignity

Cons
  • diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor
  • 6 months to live
  • If assisted suicide laws went nation wide it would create " explicit and pressure", on millions of elderly, disable to end their lives.

Pros
  • Death with dignity
  • Does not want to live into the end stage of this illness.
  • Must pass test to prove there actually in a bad sate illness

Summary- Other states should not adopt Oregon's law, because there would be so many controversy of people wanting to die with dignity. Having only five states with this law is enough. I feel like people who really want to die with dignity, would make that decision and other states should remain as they are now no accepting that law.

English assignment letter to a boss.

To the lousy Boss,
Why haven't you hired me yet? Its been around two weeks that I haven't got an answer. I'm literally waiting to get hired. I worked my butt getting interviewed and answering tons of questions. I didn't go there to waste my time, so your hiring me because you are, you hear me. I will not take no as an answer okay. I'll be there Monday morning ready to work.

                                                              NFL's growing domestic violence scandal

           Pro's
  •  Women's group calling on Goodell to be fired
  • Formation of a four-women panel to over see the league's domestic abuse policies
  • As long as the NFL keep's printing money, it will treat domestic abuse and child beatings.

Cons
  • Players accused of attacks on their girlfriends
  • Player accused of domestic violence on their 4`year child
  • Goodell's, "utter failure to act on violent behavior by player is a disgrace".

Summary- With all these domestic violence's  NFL players are doing, they should put a stop to it, NFL should be able to help with domestic violence to players by helping them or stop them from playing.

I'm currently running for the position of the president in Laton. I have many future plans ahead for this town. Laton needs someone like me to speak out into the community. I want to give them the excitement that this time there would be a change. I've been going around this town seeing what changes Laton has been through. I see that nothing has been done in Laton these several years. I have the skills and dedication to actually be the community's first ever President to actually make a change. I have been around the world helping small towns like Laton succeed. I have helped hundreds of places create a better state in their community such as money wise, more jobs and a better education for the children. I know that every single person in Laton has the ability to come up with great ideas that would improve their town. We all have the power to say what we want. Lets make this happen.

                                                                                   Hell Description

Hell is known as the place of burning souls. Its known to be the place where people are tortured for eternity. Filled with terrifying demons and the most scariest creature that every person is terrified of. the devil. Surrounded with the tick walls where no one can escape, with a hopelessness of survival. Many people have a different perspective of hell. Most religion people think that god would never be so seemingly punitive or vicious. Others think that hell is nothing more than eternal torture of the unsaved. Others stay neutral and live their lives not caring where the end up.
Hell is a place of weeping souls. Its a place of outer darkness, sorrows, torments, and a place with no rest. Fire everywhere, with pure darkness and despair. There are a lot of demons lurking taking orders to torture people. Hell is like a black hole, with no light. Hell is one of the most awful underworld place anyone could go. Blood coming out of their eyes, screams everywhere, You hear he cries, bones snapping, skin sizzling from the fire melting there skins. You see a river of thick blood, with body's flowing with endless stop. People blind walking around hearing them suffering and weeping.

                                                  Postal Service

In our society today, people tend to use modern technology to reach out to use modern technology to reach out to a person. They find it much easier and faster to do. More and more people tend to forget about the USPS throughout the years. The USPS was the first ever efficient and reliable communication across the country. Yet less amount of people tend to write letters or send items through P.O Box. The USPS thesis should be reconstructed to meet the needs of a changing world, because its essential, technology now and days isn't reliable, and its more meaningful.
The USPS is very essential for several reasons. Without the USPS many thousand of people would lose their jobs, and it would not benefit our economy due to the lack of jobs. Second, it is essential government function, like feeding the army (Doc F). For these reasons, USPS is still something important to our country and everywhere in the world.
Technology now and days isn't reliable. Sending an email to a wrong person, or having an important document accidentally being deleted is frustrating. Having to rewrite the whole thing again and probably not remembering most of it. Most of your important emails won't forever be in a computer. Will electronics records even survive for 100 years? And what would happen if they don't? Well I know that letters tend to last more. Possibly forever, so relying on a computer is not the best thing you should do.
8) Gather relevant information from multiple authoritative print and digital sources,
using advanced searches effectively; assess the strengths and limitations of each
source in terms of the task, purpose, and audience; integrate information into the
text selectively to maintain the flow of ideas, avoiding plagiarism and overreliance
on any one source and following a standard format for citation including
footnotes and endnotes. CA

Global Warming
Many scientists, and researchers are concern about the changes of climate on earth. The earth is changing dramatically due to global climate, which is referred to as “Global Warming. Global warming can result of humans contribution and also natural events. Global warming affects the earth by the rising temperatures due to the greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases is carbon dioxide caused by human activity. Human contribution to global warming is leading to human health problems, drastic climate change and future problems.
One of the greatest purposes of global warming is human contribution to burning fossil fuel such as coal, oil, and gas. Burning coal contributes to global warming because it creates smog, acid rain and toxic air pollution. Toxic air pollution is known to be the cause of why there are so many diseases and viruses. Because of global warming, acid rain is one of the causes of environmental harm in forest and lakes. Deforestation that humans are contributing by are cutting and burning trees that add up to even  greater risk to global warming, and pollution. The usage of cars by humans in the world is one of the major global warming effects, because they are used daily in life. Humans using cars send out emissions into the atmosphere creating air pollution, making global warming even worse than it already is. Human activity has caused at least half of climate change in the last half century, by driving cars, running power plants on coal and oil, torching  swathes of forestland and debris; anything involving burning carbon-gas fuels and emitting greenhouse gases (Miller).
Global warming is affecting the health of millions of people in the world. Global warming contributes to millions of human illnesses every year. Global warming negatively affects humans health by the spread of diseases such as, malaria, heat stress, and malnutrition. These disease are spread because of the warm temperatures from pollution of the burning coal, oil and such. Extreme high air temperatures are known to cause about 150,000 deaths each year around the world and are continuing to increase more and more. There are more likely deaths of children in the world because they are more exposed to such warm weathers with bad quality air giving them heat strokes. Children around the world living in poor conditions are the most vulnerable to the result of health issues. Higher temperatures over the coming decades are expected to cause more  smoggy days.
Global warming is also affecting the environment such as plants, forest, and animals. The effect on plants is caused by rising land and water temperature. Not only surface plants are affected but underwater plants as well. Higher temperatures and other climate changes decrease the amount of rain and water plants receive, as well as elevating sea temperatures (Patsalides). The result of global warming, there has been higher risks of forest wildfires, affecting major areas of the world. Plants dieing because of heat waves, also affecting the food supply for humans and animals. High temperatures can cause the food supply for both animals and humans to decline and this starts to threaten the lives of those animals and plants.
The most important thing that scientist and researchers are worried about is the Arctic Ocean. The arctic ocean temperatures has been rising twice as fast and causes it to melt creating thin layers of ice. Glaciers melting creates high sea levels, which threatens places like beaches to over flood, and sea temperatures to get colder. Scientists fear that the arctic will reach its point where it all melts throughout the years do to the release of to much carbon dioxide in the air. Sea ice is something very important in the arctic. Sea ice is a 1-6 feet of thick ice that is mostly covered throughout the whole arctic making it super cold. But the sea ice has been declining throughout the years making the arctic not as cold as it used to be. Specialists are now constantly keeping there eyes open, watching to see if any more changes in the arctic are more to come and how to prevent them.
As the earth gets warmer, animals that live in the cold might not have a suitable place to live any more. Polar bears, walruses, whales, and seals are struggling to survive in the arctic, because of global warming. Polar bears are used to extreme cold weather in the arctic hunting for prey, and having a source of shelter, and playing their role in the ecosystem. Now that global warming if affecting the arctic many of the animals such as the polar bears are struggling to stay alive. Their population is suddenly decreasing, their having less and less hunting opportunities and there having to change and adapt to new ways of living with warmer weather due to global warming. Polar bears also depend on sea ice. They use it as a platform to stay float to catch prey. As the sea ice is melting its creating thin layers of ice making it harder for polar bears to stand and difficult for them to swim. Polar bears have died by drowning by not having a platform to stand because of the sea ice melting. Along with other arctic animals whales, seals, and walruses they also are suffering from global warming affects. Gray whales are starting to migrate to other places they're not used to including migrating to warmer waters. Arctic dwellers such as the gray whale, ice seals, walruses, and polar bears are making their way to unknown warming world, living in new habitat, new food supply shifting to accommodate their new living (Kay).
Global warming has a lot to do with climate change. Climate change is weather patterns caused by global warming. Many agree that climate change may be one of the greatest threats facing the world, and recent years show increasing temperatures in regions or extremities in weather patterns (Shah). With climate change, the world has gone through many disastrous case scenarios. Winter storms, droughts, floods, hurricanes, storms, and extreme heat weather are all because of climate change. Climate change seems to be irreversible at the moment, because many researchers are trying their best to figure out what can they change in the future before its too late. Extreme heat weather conditions is the most affecting weather causing fatal deaths every year and affecting health.
Is there a solution to global warming? Yes there is. There are a lot of ways to prevent global warming from continuing. Using cars less and bikes more can reduce the amount in emissions going into the atmosphere. Also by saving lots of energy and by buying efficient energy appliances you can save money and help fight global warming. Solar panels are also another way to save energy in homes. Saving water by turning off faucets is a solution to global warming because it keeps it from wasting. Also by spreading the word around by trying to make a difference in stopping global warming is also a solution to global warming. Recycling is something that helps stop global warming by decreasing landfills, and stops gases to release into the air preventing air pollution.
Global warming is affecting the world all around. From top to bottom humans are still going to be contributing to global warming even though most of them don’t notice. Although there are many people already trying to make a difference its going to take years maybe decades to see a huge difference in the world. Humans are still going to face to health problems due to polluted air and extreme climate changes which they would have to get used to. Wildlife are coping with the different weather conditions and doing their best to survive. With solutions out there in the world humans are trying their best to improve a better life for humanity and the entire world.

On Wednesday afterschool we opened our student store and we started off pretty good. We had some student customers come in and bought snacks. We also had teachers come in and buy some snacks to. When we started setting the store up right after school a lot of students came ready to buy snacks but we couldn't sell them anything till 3:35. They weren't going to be here by the time we opened our store, so we new it was a problem because we would be loosing a lot of customers. So we decided that we would try to figure out a way to open early by rechecking they school policy. We also started making short videos about our student store on how we set it up and we were getting some good ideas from Adan, David, about making a rap video to our store and Adan and David were going to help by writing the lyrics. We are planning to open our store again next week and we hope that it goes good again and that we have more customers.

Today is the day we open our student store. We have our snacks ready, our cabinet done and were ready to sell after school. On Tuesday we got our snacks brought in by Mrs. Patty. She helped us by buying our snacks and bringing it to us on Tuesday. That same day we agreed on opening the store on Friday. We created poster and set them up on our campus so that students would know when we were opening. Also we talked to Mrs. Pilcher and had a quick meeting with her discussing prices for our snacks and the profit we were going to make. She gave us a good idea of having a binder with charts keeping track of how many things we sold that day and everyday we have our student store open. Mathew and David have also been helping us make a sign saying "Store" for our student store. The sign will be ready and put up by the end of the day. We hope that our student store becomes a success.

3) Analyze a complex set of ideas or sequence of events and explain how specific
individuals, ideas, or events interact and develop over the course of the text.

The story, "In Cold Blood", there are a lot of events taking place in this story. One, the murder of the Clutter family. Second, the events that are happening with Dick and Perry. And Third, Mr. Dewey and other detectives trying to solve the murder and getting to the bottom of it. The murder of the Clutter leads up to Perry and Dick as suspects. The detectives are tracking down Dick and Perry, because they sense they had something to do with it. Perry is an individual that grew up having a rough time. Perry part of his life grew up in a orphanage, getting beat up by nuns. Dick on the other hand, grew up with his parents and did have a nice relationship with them, but did not have that much luck on his marriages. Many more events in the story are going to lead to the Murder of the Clutter family.

5) Analyze how an author’s choices concerning how to structure specific parts of
a text (e.g., the choice of where to begin or end a story, the choice to provide a
comedic or tragic resolution) contribute to its overall structure and meaning as
well as its aesthetic impact.

The story I'm reading " In Cold Blood" is a story about a family of four who got murdered and there was no apparent motive for the crime and there was almost no clues left in which who killed them.  The authors choice of structure of the story begins in the begging where they talked about the family and jumped right into the murder scene. The Clutter family, was a family who was well known lived in a town where everyone knew them and got along. There was no reason at all that anybody disliked them. They had a sweet daughter name Nancy age 16, and a boy name Kenyon age 15. There mother name is Bonnie and there father name is  Herb. One night, a friend of Nancy's was suppose to come over and found them all dead. Nobody knew who could of done such thing to them.
The overall structure and the meaning of this was that the author wanted readers to get hooked into the book by talking about the murder in the begging rather than the end. It also involves they story of two individuals, Dick and Perry. Dick and Perry were both prisoners who meet at the Kansas State Prison. The author also talks about them in the story and some how they end up in the murder scene of the Clutters.

1) Cite strong and thorough textual evidence to support analysis of what the text
says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text, including determining
where the text leaves matters uncertain.

On the worksheet "Death with dignity", it talked about if other states should adopt the law of "death with dignity". A women was diagnosed with a severe tumor in her brain that would take her life in six months. She does not want to die knowing that the tumor will soon grow and make her weak. She rather die with dignity by taking prescriptive medicine that will peacefully kill her without suffering. Only five states have this law. But the question is should other states adopt this law? In the text, it said that if other States adopt this law a lot of sick elderly would want to die with dignity, as well as many sick people. Also in order for them to "die with dignity", they have to take some test to prove that it is very severe. Once approve they have the choice. But should other States adopt this law?

6) Analyze a case in which grasping point of view requires distinguishing what is
directly stated in a text from what is really meant (e.g., satire, sarcasm, irony, or
understatement).

The Story, "Shooting an Elephant" is about a early moment in Orwell's life when his sense of injustices surfaced. This story has irony and tone. The tone of this story was basically angry. There were lots of powerful words being used such as hatred, intolerable, ravaging and upsetting. Orwell used these words to describe how he didnt like his job and other things. He didnt like how things weren't treated the way they were suppose to be treated. For example, Orwell worked at a Empire of close quarters. He hated how prisoners were mistreated bad. Orwell described the prisoners how they were wretched prisoners huddling in the sinking cages. Also Orwell's tone of when he had to watch the elephant, making sure it did not cause any danger to the people was worried. Orwell had a worry tone because he did not want to kill the elephant, if the elephant were to cause any danger he would have no other choose but to kill it.

The irony of the story is that he mentioned how people in town where he lived seemed to have nothing to do except stand on street corners and jeer at Europeans.

During this week, we worked on our student store on filing out the fundraiser application. We also looked up businesses and researched which businesses give donations. Were going to write a cover letter to give to the businesses so they can have our contact number to contact us. Also starting next week I'm going to start looking for designs for our cabinet and how to paint it. What I also did this week was talk to Mrs. Cabrera. We asked her if she could be our advisor for our student store. We came up with dates in which we would have our student store open. The days we decided we Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. We would have the store open after school available for students.

2. Determine two or more themes or central ideas of a text and analyze their

development over the course of the text, including how they interact and build

on one another to produce a complex account; provide an objective summary of

the text.
literature.

Last week, a few of My Lifers and I finished the book the Alchemist. We had to finish the book by Friday and discuss about the story. The theme in this story was to follow your dreams. The boy in the story, wanted to be a Shepherd who wanted to travel around the world to see new things and learn from them. The story taught many lesson as gave out good advice. Another theme I could say about the book would be, work for what you want in life. The boy worked a lot after giving his flock of sheep away. He worked enough in a crystal shop to recuperate his sheep and buy twice as more sheep than he already had. A quick summary about this book is A boy name Santiago always wanted to travel around the world. He came to see that shepherds would travel around with there flock of sheep. Santiago told his dad that he wanted to become a shepherd, and so he did. Santiago went around to small towns to sell the sheep wool. In a town he had stop at a store and meet a girl that he had falling in love with. Santiago decided to go with a gypsy prayer that would tell his future. She told him that there was a hidden treasure he had to go look for. And so he did and on the way he had meet a few people that helped him get to his treasure, the crystal merchant, Englishman, and the Alchemist. The hidden treasure was located in the Pyramids of Egypt. In the end the boy end up finding the treasure and going back to have a life with Fatima the girl he had met.

Civics - 12.2.3. Performance Standard:
Explain the roles of property rights, competition, and profit in a market economy.

This standard ties into the project I'm working on, with few of my life students, because inorder for the project we had to find a place we would sale our merchandise at (rules of property rights). So we had to find a location that would be perfect to get our booth stationed, with the condition of following the property rules of course. A location were we  would first start would be at the football games. Its a great way to get started there because lots of people attend the football games. We were thinking of selling snacks and drinks at our booth, but there is already a snack bar at the football games and that would just lead into (compettion). We thought about doing something different. We were thinking of making little key chains with the initials of our school and selling them. There is a lot of things we have in mind, but we just have to plan and see what happens. By selling these merchandise, we would come up with some good (profit). The more we would sell and the profit we would make we would increase our merchandise, for example if we would make enough profit we could start buying supplies for our silkscreen machine like t-shirts. But first, we would have to start by fundraisning.

Friday, September 5, 2014

During this week we have been working and figuring out how were going to work on our projects. On Thursday Mrs. Rempp, from the water board came to visit us to give us an update on the skate park. She gave us ideas in where we can get grants. One of the grants were the Tony hawk foundation. My Lifers are going to work together to get the grant application going. We hope to finish the grant application by January and meet all the requirements. This grant is by far a chance we have to make this happen soon. Other grants required almost two years at least to get all the process done. Lastly we discuss today that instead of doing an individual projects, we decided to make small group projects.  But yet all of My lifers are going to help one another succeed in their projects.

1. Cite strong and thorough textual evidence to support analysis of what the text

says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.

During this week, I've worked with My Life project students answering some question for a grant were are trying to obtain. The questions were based on, My Life project on future funding and budget. Also that day we started talking about our interest. We worked on our interest this whole week and by Friday we had to have an idea in what we liked. Some of my interest were music, animals, and having a student store. In idea came up of having a silk screen machine to make t-shirts. I was really interested in that because, I think it would be awesome to design shirts for our school and other school events. Lastly, we all got a book to read called, "The Alchemist", so far the story has been really good.

Friday, August 22, 2014

During these past few days, My Life Project students have been working and preparing for a project we all agreed to work on. This project is building a skate park in the community of Laton. We all started working, gathering our resources to make this happen. A meeting was going to be held August 20th, and a few students from My Life Project were going to present our idea of a Skate Park and a proposal to the Water Board Members. Everyone in the My Life Project had to work on different parts, such as searching for information to write the proposal, and a few students including myself were writing the proposal putting it all together. We put all our effort on getting this done. We were all proud of the work we contributed together working as a team.
