Argumentitive topic:

Banned Violence In Media
Violence is not new to anyone, it's being broadcast every day through television, for years now. It has come to the point where violence in media is affecting the youth, more than grown up people. Children are being more exposed to violence, than they have ever been. We all have a different mindset, and people now are capable of doing anything they see whether it's on television, movies, video games or social media. People don’t realize that when making violent video games or movies that show negative images, can really affect the youth and their development in growing up. Media violence has impacted the youth and society because of violent video games, television/movies, and social media.
In todays society there are so many adolescents joining into the technology world of video games. It is known that “ Ninety-seven percent of the adolescents age 12-17 play video games on a computer, on consoles, such as the wii, Playstation, Xbox, or on a portable device such as Gameboys, smartphones and tablets”(Benedict Carey). Less teens are outside and more time inside playing video games that are not age appropriate. Yes, there is age restrictions on video games, but that doesn't stop them from finding out a way to get ahold of them. Most adolescents have different choices and preferences when it
comes to choosing video games. There preference goes more towards the category of fighting, shooting, and killing. Now television has a lot to do with this because they promote these violent games in commercials to young teens. The outcome of teens playing these games comes with negative effects, affecting their lives.
Violent video games are a negative effect on the youth, because players engage on a deeper level in videos games physically and emotionally.”The video game industry has grown by leaps and bounds since its inceptions in the 1970’s.”(Thomas K. Kooijmans). Teens playing these video games spend quality time playing, causing them to build up an aggressive behavior throughout the time.  Their aggressive behavior comes from disappointment in losing, and competing against others. For example, competing against a friend can lead to someone getting mad and cause them to dispute. “Playing the games can and does stir hostile urges and mildly aggressive behavior in the short term”( Benedict Carey). These video games become a habit to players. Once they begin playing, they will spend so much time into these games, that the shut down everything else around them. They start becoming antisocial at school, they spend less quality time with family and it's even worse when they have younger siblings. Younger siblings look up to their oldest siblings and  they tend to follow into their footsteps. When these younger siblings see their brother or sister playing these violent video games they start wanting to play at a very young age which is not good, because they will also have the tendency of getting a bad behavior. “Youngsters who develop a gaming habit can become slightly more aggressive - as measured by clashes with peers, for instance at least over a period of a year or two.”  ( Benedict Carey).
It also has a major impact on their daily life. School for example, adolescents start to decline on their school achievements by not doing their work, not paying attention to a lecture and they even start showing that aggressive behavior they develop while playing those video games. These behaviors lead to talking back to a teacher or disrupting other students from doing their work. There grades also start to decrease and they may engage a fight with one of the students.
Everyone likes television. You can basically watch anything you want, except for certain things. Television broadcasts shows, news, movies, soap operas, programs and more. But when it comes to television, good and bad things can be shown that may not be appropriate to watch or may be educational. Children are more exposed to this violence because they have no parental supervision as to what they are watching. Children for example are influenced by television, because when watching a show they may think its right to do something wrong, because someone on television did it and it was okay.  “The typical American child will view more than 200,000 acts of violence, including more than 16,000 murders before the age of 18” (Eugene V Beresin).
As kids keep watching these television shows or just watching anything that contains violence is really going to affect their development in growing up. They start to develop ideas based on what they’ve seen in TV. There going to live their lives afraid because they watched something that was traumatizing for them but not for their parents,
because they know its not true and its just fake. Violence in television teaches kids bad words, cheating, fighting, and revenge. Violence shown in media, such as in television, should not be permitted, because it also gives out bad examples to society.
Our society lives in a world of fear, due to so many violence happening and it being show to the public by the media. What the media doesn't see is that by showing such things as movies that contain inappropriate images of people murdering, kidnapping, and much more, portrays ideas to young people who then try to recreate the same thing causing this world to have violence. Horror films movies are a publics best entertainment, but when they are being imitated in real life, it is a totally different story. Most of these horror movies are made from real life situations and by movies recreating this again, it gives out ideas to people to imitate. People sometimes behave like what they see on television. “ There are studies to show that violent behavior shown on TV and in movies can negatively affect an adult, who watches it regularly in different ways, including becoming desensitized, and making it more likely for him to commit a crime.” (Alice Ladkin)
Social media is used on a daily basis by millions of people.  There are numerous social networking sites that let you interact with friends, family, and random strangers online. Social media is a immense distraction, because people are constantly on their phone, computers or any other device. Social media has changed the world, because you can talk to people from other different places in the world, and it keeps you up to date with the things going on. But one main issue about social media is that on social networking sites there are tons of violence being shown out to the public without it being strictly deleted. When logging on to a social networking site like facebook, people post, tag, or share disturbing images or videos. For example a video about a cop beating up a citizen for no reason or teens at school recording their friends fighting and later posting it on their social media so that everyone can see. These kinds of videos go viral around the world so that tons of people can see and this is not acceptable. Thousands of videos everyday being posted and it seems that no one in the social media is preventing this things from coming out and being deleted.
Now and days there is no age restrictions for kids in making their own facebook account or myspace. Its not like the old times where you had to be a certain age to have an account. Social media doesn't care about that or what is being posted. All they do care is about the money and the more people for them joining the better. Social media gives the public what they want. They should have more restriction on social networking sites to prevent people and kids from watching these terrible things.
Banning violence in media is the best thing it would be for society and the whole world. There would be no more violent video games, making it a healthier environment for adolescents. They would no longer get influence by them and they would no longer develop aggressive behaviors. They would banned violence in television as well in movies, for the good purpose of people, so that they no longer get ideas of killing, kidnapping and ect...It would prevent them from imitating or recreating movie scenes. Banning violence would stop social media from posting, sharing and tagging inappropriate images, making it safer for people. Instead, what social media should do is  advocate a safer environment and worry about the children of this generation from getting influenced and turning bad. Having no more violence being shown is a positive way to start and changing the world. With this there can be so many new changes in the society. The possibility of banning violence can decrease the actual violence in the world making it a less dangerous place and making it a prominent place.

A New Supreme Court challenge for Obama care

Pro-

  • Most federal judges who have considered this claim have tossed it out.
  • It "inconceivable that conservative justices would use
  • Just because court took the case doesn't mean it will vote destroy Obama care
  • The laws says what is says, so the question is whether " this administrative can unilaterally rewrite the law to suit its political ends.
Cons-
  • Liberals are right to say that this was probably just a "drafting error".
  • Yanking away health in insurance "will keep people".
  • If they deny subsides to those 36 states, young healthy people who cant afford their coverage without tax subsidy would drop out.
Stance-
Obama care should be kept, because a lot of people are in need. A lot of people are against this but they don't realize that people are out here needing this. If this happens does not pass there is going to be lots of issues.

6. Determine an author’s point of view or purpose in a text in which the rhetoric is

particularly effective, analyzing how style and content contribute to the power,

persuasiveness, or beauty of the text.

In the speech " Aren't I a Women?" uses rhetoric and style, and contributes to the power of persuasiveness

In her opening paragraph the set of the tone for her speech is persuasiveness, because she is telling her speech to a group of slaves back then and telling them that its about time they get there freedom and that they are strong and don't need the help of anybody. Along while shes saying her speech she also has a tone of impassioned and confident. The effect on a rhetoric question that begins in the second paragraph of her speech is that shes answering her own question. Her appeal in each of the three central paragraphs at the beginning is that she is no different  from anybody else. The effect of this would that there wouldn't be as much of a speech and we wouldn't be able to read her full story.
